My latest life drawing form the sessions at Redbrick Mill. It was quite refreshing going back to oil paint, however i think i spent a bit too much time enjoying myself and when it came towards the end of the 2 hour I was really in a rush to get the finer details done and all the white bits covered up.

New Landscape Painting
This morning i woke up and decided to go back to an unfinished landscape painting to give it a second chance. I tried to put some more energy into it by bringing out some stronger colours and faster strokes.
The before picture on top, after picture on the bottom. I don't think I am done with this painting yet though....one more session perhaps.

Latest Life Drawing
Here is my latest life drawing with Steve, a really great model, who I always find has a really interesting physique to paint. With his skeleton and muscles being so obvious you get a lot of contrast between the light and dark areas and this sort of suits "my style".
Life Drawing with Steve an inspiring model who held an interesting pose designed to reveal his slender physique to best advantage. As you can see from the photograph the lighting was positioned to also emphasize the muscles, tendons and skeleton beneath the skin, so the scene was set for a good piece of work. Two hours of concentrated effort would surely bring it's reward, there were no excuses and yet despite these advantages sometimes it just doesn't happen and in my case it really didn't.

Various pieces
Here is a set of recent life drawings. All of them are painted with acrylic paint on paper. The life drawing classes at RedBrick Mill in Batley are a real good chance to wind down and just focus on something and get on with it without any distractions. It is also a really good oportunity to talk to working artists and get constructive criticism.

First Art blog
Just thought i would set up a blog to let people have the chance to easily see what i am doing! I will be posting photographs of my artwork past and present and generally keeping you updated on my life.
Here is an oil painting that i did last summer from a little hamlet called 'le petit Montbrod' in France. I find that painting the landscape has really helped me to appreciate the full beauty and complexity of it. It is always changing, and trying to capture that in a painting is always a struggle but i think that is what makes you come back to it.
Any way, I hope that this blogging thing is useful for me and anyone else interested in what i am doing.
